Frequently Asked Questions...
Can you damage an audio amplifer by running it using the audio out jacks? only ie, without any speakers?
I have a jukebox which I am wishing to use via another better quality external amplifier, the jukebox has line out phono ( rca ) sockets and I wish to use this method of connection , therefore no speakers will be attached to the jukeboxes internal binding posts will this cause a problem for the jukes amplifier as it will not have any load on its speakers terminals.
And if so why not?
Answer:
Connect the line out to the amplifier and enjoy.
The speaker output does not need to be connected and leaving it disconnected will NOT cause any damage.
Be careful that you don't connect the external amplifier to the speaker output though as that might blow the input buffers on the Amp
